skylarking: (me!)
*The word of the day is ‘cocooned’.

*The quote of the day is “Badges, we don’t need no stinking badges!”

I decided earlier today that I would like to be a Popple. I decided that I would like to curl up in a little furry ball and let the rest of the world carry on without me. I still would actually.

Does anyone remember Popples? They were funny little bear like toy thingys that could tuck themselves into the pouches they had on their backs. I had a pink one called Party Popple, and now I think about it, I think my friend Emma had PC Popple, or was it my sister…The bizarre thing is that I couldn’t remember what my Popple was called so I decided to look it up online, and there are loads of Popples websites (Popples.org for example) and Popples webrings and communities. And you thought this fandom was weird!

Having a gloomy day. I’m not sure what the cause is, whether it’s my little sisters impending marriage, my upcoming birthday or the latest layer in the saga of my brother.

Whine, whine, feel sorry for me, blah blah blah.

I don’t want to whine (not too much) because it’s really boring, but do you ever wish you had just 5 minutes when there wasn’t some new issue to have to deal with and live your life around, and for a little while you could look around and think “Yeah, this is good.”

I do believe that on a certain level things happen for a reason and it’s important to try and learn from every experience, and that diversity is good for the soul and all that stuff but I would like a little bit of normality. Just a little.

So, in an effort to not moan in an existential angsty way like someone from Dawsons Creek I have taken affirmative action. Someone once said, I can't remember who, that you should try and do something once a month that scares you, so I posted the first of a 3 part story I've written on [livejournal.com profile] monaboyd. I feel slightly sick now, but maybe that's what broadening your horizons feels like. *grin*

(Incidentally - Dawsons Creek, I said from the very beginning that Joey should be with Pacey, he had a sense of humour and Dawson was funny looking and self involved. If only they'd listened to me they would have spared themselves years of navel gazing)

And final thought - [livejournal.com profile] shimmerfreak I hope you have a brilliant time at Comiccon. I wish you Dom.

When did this post get so long??
