Square eyes
Jul. 27th, 2004 10:08 pmI've just watched Dare Devil. It really wasn't very good. I should have been good, all the right elements were there and yet it just wasn't. I know it was based on a comic book but the characters were really 2 dimensional and I didn't care about any of them. The bit that impressed me the most was the cameo by the guy who does the Marvel comics and created Spiderman. Ben Affleck was crap.
I've watched loads of films over the last few days - Toms Midnight Garden, which wasn't very good which is a shame because I love the book, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn which also wasn't good, I only really watched it because Wee!Elijah was in it. (and he was so wee and cute!!) And the Hulk.
The Hulk was really bad. It looked fantastic but it was so boring. And the CGI was dreadful! It's supposed to be a kids film and yet they're talking about how the Hulk is a manifestation of Bruce Bana's repressed childhood trauma. A 9 year old is supposed to understand that? The best bit was the demonic mutated poodle.
Best of all was on Saturday I saw Quadrophenia (I probably haven't spelt that right). Every year there's a Stella screen thing where a big cinema screen gets put up on the beach and it's free to go and watch a film. This year is was Master and Commander and Quodrophenia. I like going down, the whole experience is fun. There are thousands of people all sat on the beach and it's a nice summers evening. Some parts of Quadrophenia take place in Brighton and whenever the beach or the pier was on screen everyone cheered.
I should be sensible and go to bed really *sigh* I hate being sensible sometimes.
