skylarking: (mr silly)
I went to a batik workshop today, much fun was had. There were 6 women there (workshops are almost always attended I've notice, or at least the ones I've been to) and a fantastic little girl called Rosie.

We traced things from books, copied the drawing onto silk with wax then coloured in with dye. I still have some dye on my fingers, as a kid I always used to get what ever I was using - paint, pen, glue - all over me and it's nice to know that I haven't lost that ability as I've grown :)

The only problem with the pictures is you have to iron them to finish them off - ironing lifts the wax away - and I don't own an iron. I'll have to think about that one.

There's another class on 30th September so I think I'll go to that one too, the dye will have probably worn off my hands by then so I'll be ready to splodge some more on myself.

I watched Towering Inferno this afternoon. I love disaster movies, especially dodgy 70's ones. Fred Astaire was in it - Fred Astaire!! He didn't dance unfortunatley but he was still fab.

In the end Steve McQueen managed to save the day by blowing stuff up. Good old Steve McQueen.
