The whale that swam into the Thames has died, despite rescue efforts.

Very sad

It seems strange that they can put people into space but they can't shoo a whale into open water.

Although I suppose the Thames is full of crap, slime, bits of dead bodies, and nuclear waste (probably) so it's amazing that it lasted as long as it did.

Oh no... that's so sad :(

It was such a glorious thing seeing an animal like that in the city on TV but to end this way is just tragic.

So sad that this story ended the way it did. The ppl who worked so hard all day yesterday to try and save it did a magnificant job, but it just seemed such an undignified and unnatural way for such a wonderful animal to pass.

It's kind of ironic that this one whale attracted so much attention and compassion from around the world, while the Japanese whaling ships are hunting 1000 minke whales right now - my one bit of consolation is that at least maybe the Thames whale has brought more public attention to what is going on.
